I am a journalist, community builder and life-long learner. I geek out over new forms of storytelling, community organizing practices and all things Iowa.

Currently, I’m focused on Iowa Ideas, a new project to connect Iowans and discover solutions to key issues facing our state.

Journalist by training.

I graduated from Iowa State University with degrees in journalism and mass communication and art history and theory in 2012. I’ve been lucky enough to work for a major magazine publisher, an online media startup and everything in between. Right now I’m with The Gazette, a quickly-evolving, employee-owned media company in Eastern Iowa.

Community builder by practice.

Outside of work I have been proud to be involved with 1 Million Cups ICR as a lead organizer for the weekly startup event, with Leadership for Five Seasons as a committee member for their entrepreneurial programming, and with various other community initiatives. I was also honored to be one of the Iowa Jaycees “Outstanding Young Iowans” for 2015.

Although I can be quite introverted, I’m always up for coffee and conversation. Email me – I’d love to connect.
